Main Menu for Mary's Artwork

These pages are filled with my personal visions in stone, wood, clay, watercolor and intaglio prints. The art is urban, environmental, mystical, mythological, feminist and lesbian. I have been influenced by everything from D.C. comics to Mondrian. Illustrators, such as Aubrey Beardsley and Maxfield Parrish, hold a fascination for me and keep me telling stories that haven't been written yet. The works of Michelangelo Buonarroti and Auguste Rodin have encouraged me to become a figurative sculptor. Inspiration has come from Kathe Kollwitz, Georgia O'Keefe, Eva Hesse, Judy Chicago and every other woman who has strived to have her creative voice heard. I was born in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1957, attended Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, where I studied journalism and fine arts. I currently live and work in Manhattan.
