These pages are filled with my personal visions in stone, wood, clay, watercolor and intaglio prints. The art is urban, environmental, mystical, mythological, feminist and lesbian. I have been influenced by everything from D.C. comics to Mondrian. Illustrators, such as Aubrey Beardsley and Maxfield Parrish, hold a fascination for me and keep me telling stories that haven't been written yet. The works of Michelangelo Buonarroti and Auguste Rodin have encouraged me to become a figurative sculptor. Inspiration has come from Kathe Kollwitz, Georgia O'Keefe, Eva Hesse, Judy Chicago and every other woman who has strived to have her creative voice heard. I was born in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1957, attended Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, where I studied journalism and fine arts. I currently live and work in Manhattan. | |
